Fashion Week Highs and Lows…..So Far

With all the hype surrounding the usual suspects, it was great to see Protagonist put on a beautiful and well received debut showing at Fashion Week. With a devoted following already in tow, it was a lovely mix of rich colors and textures. On the polar opposite side of the debut spectrum was Kanye West and his Adidas debut. It was almost as if the star power (thankfully) served as a distraction for the vacuous display that was “Yeezy”. Frankly I’m not sure what was worse, the “line” or the predictable fawning by editorial acolytes. Just say it people, it was awful. Its not that hard.

It’s no secret we aren’t exactly true believers when it comes to Jason Wu either, and his show didn’t change our opinions. I think “blah” describes it best. Rebecca Minkoff on the other hand was fantastic. The whole bohemian, 70s feel was in full effect and we loved it. We loved her use of fringe everywhere.

Alexander Wang, another highly anticipated show was well….. yeah, no. Not a fan. I know we’re supposed to love it but thats just not happening. It reminded me of watching a remake of an old TV show.

Its amazing all the criticism Victoria Beckham has gotten after watching some of the beloved designers’ train wrecks. She has a sense of style that really comes through in what she designs (Something conspicuously absent in many other more notable shows). This year she seems to have gone more feminine and moved away from some of the more man tailored designs. Sexy silhouettes, mixed with beautiful fabrics. Bravo! Stay tuned for more……
