Sofia and I love all things fashion, and we are VERY enthusiastic consumers. Occasionally we’ll take the opportunity to highlight some of our favorite places to visit (virtually or in person). We share what we love and where we love to buy it.
In an endless digital universe of shops and destinations there are a few places that really seem to “get it”. I hate using the word, but in a manner of speaking they are disruptive (such an overused term these days, oh well). One of these is MyTheresa. First lets talk about the selection. I really like the fact that they “edit” collections and choose what they think are the “it” pieces. I don’t always agree, but I also think most collections need editing. I don’t want to see every piece and I don’t think the consumer does either. People see something in a show or in a magazine editorial and want THAT piece.
And that brings us to the “looks”. I rather enjoy browsing through the “looks” as they mix and match designers based on color palette, or occasion. I think most fashion shopping sites miss the whole merchandising thing and to the extent they attempt it, its generally designer specific (predetermined looks). I think beyond the selection and overall experience of the site/store, one of the real “disruptive” aspects of MyTheresa is their service and buying experience. If you’re a detail person, like we are, you’ll appreciate things like packaging.
Their boxes for example are a step above (putting it lightly). In a world of people taking a brown box, arriving semi crushed with your new Victoria Beckham blouse somewhere in one of the corners of the box, for granted, this is one of those elements of the shopping experience most completely overlook. I save these boxes, they’re that nice.
I’ve touched on just a few of the things we really love about MyTheresa, there are many more. They exist in a small universe of stores that really seems to put the consumer buying experience together in a very special way. Beautiful selection, and a superb customer service approach, from shopping to purchase to delivery. If you haven’t visited their store, we highly recommend it.
